Piano tuning is one of my core services. I tune entirely by ear, having received the specific high level training required for this time-honoured method. Aural training, as it is called, is the method preferred by most advanced players, because it takes into account the complex interactions of notes resounding together. This makes for a more musical and expressive tone. Regularly played pianos should be tuned on a yearly basis or more often depending on performance needs.
From small in-house piano repairs and adjustments to improve tone and response (touch) to large scale restoration work, I am well-versed and equipped for any piano situation (or emergency!).
Piano Assessments and Evaluation:
Whether you need piano expertise for purchase, sale, or insurance, you are in good hands with Jurgen Goering. His 30 years of piano experience allows for a balanced perspective while assisting you with information.
Jurgen is not personally involved in piano moving. However, he is happy to give advice and recommendation for piano moving. Remember: a piano must be tuned after every move. It is best to schedule a piano tuning for several weeks after the move to allow the piano time to settle and acclimatize.
Mechanical Musical Instruments:
Jurgen also has extensive experience with mechanical musical instruments, historical instruments, harmoniums, harpsichords, and reed organs (pump organs). Please contact him for more information.
